What is Nutrition?

Nutrition is the intake of food that a person eats in relation to their dietary needs. Good nutrition is a well balanced diet where the amount of calories put into the body is the same or lower than the expenditure (calories burnt by the body during exercise). Bad nutrition is where the body takes in more calories than is needed and the expenditure is less than the amount put in. This then leads to weight gain, which in turn leads to other illnesses and diseases.

Why is nutrition important?

Nutrition is important as it is our body’s source of energy. The three main ingredients for our body’s energy comes from Carbohydrates, Protein and fat. The body also needs fibre, vitamins, minerals and water to be healthy.

Eating a healthy balanced diet is important for our body’s health and to prevent from getting lifestyle diseases.

What happens in a session?

What we do in a session is look at your current diet/eating habits to see what you are putting into your body. This gives us an idea of what is good and what might need to be changed. After looking at the current diet we would plan out with you a few changes to your diet and you would do the new diet of a week. Feedback is key, so we would need to hear from you how you felt the diet went. The feedback would give us an indication of whether anything needs to be changed.
