Watsu

WATSU

(WATer shiatSU)

With an emphasis on stretching the body, it is performed in warm water where lightness of the body allows the practitioner to float recipients, free spinal vertebrae, rotate joint articulations and elongate muscles in ways not possible on land.
Performed in time with the breath, Watsu consists of calm, rhythmic, dance-like sequences, which not only affect superficial and deep fasciae, inner ear and neurological systems but also gently energise and refresh the person – inspiring the natural regeneration of mind, body and spirit.

A unique way in which Watsu differs from many forms of body work, is in its awareness of the profoundly nourishing effect of being held closely and non-sexually by another. More acceptable in a water environment, such holding can begin to help heal deep wounds of separation. It connects us to something beyond the physical and the resulting deep feelings of nurturance and safety allow for a profound and holistic body work experience that is like no other.
